Truck carrying chemicals burns Monday morning on I-80 near Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa - A semi-trailer truck carrying chemicals was burning on I-80 in Des Moines Monday morning.  

WHO Radio News Traffic Reporter John McKeighan reports the Hazardous Materials team was called out, and evacuated residents and businesses in a perimeter around the fire due to the chemicals.

At 9:23 a.m. the westbound lanes of I-80 just west of the I-80/35/235 east side mixmaster were still shut down.  Eastbound traffic was heavy.
