Madison County, Iowa bridge arson suspect takes plea deal

(WINTERSET, Iowa)  There's been a plea agreement in a Madison County covered bridge arson case.   Joel Davis has pleaded guilty to Second Degree Arson, admitting to helping two others burn the Cedar Bridge in April of last year.   

Davis will be sentenced April 16th, he faces up to 10-years in prison.   In exchange for the guilty plea, a Criminal Mischief charge will be dropped.   Davis is required to testify against Hoff and will have to pay restitution for the damage to the Cedar Bridge.

Davis, along with Alivia Bergmann and Alexander Hoff were call charged with Arson.

Bermann previously pleaded guilty December 4, 2017 to Arson.  Her sentencing is scheduled for May 7th. Hoff is charged with Arson and Criminal Mischief.  

His trial is set to begin March 27th, in Pottawattmaie County court.
