Voters OK new schools in Waukee, Ankeny and Urbandale

It didn't take long to count the votes in school bond issues in Waukee, Ankeny and Urbandale's school bond issues.  Polls closed at 8pm, although at the two Waukee precincts, voting was reported to be brisk in the final hours.

In all three cases, voters approved bond issues for new schools in their districts.  Here's how it went:

Waukee:

The Waukee School District asked voters to approve a $117 million dollar bond issue to build a new high school and improve the existing one for the growing district.  Unofficial vote count was:

YES: 2,988 votes  90.27%     NO:  322 votes 9.73%


Ankeny:

The Ankeny School District asked for approval of an $18 million dollar bond issue to build and furnish a new elementary school-the district's eleventh.

YES: 2,091 votes  87.53%     NO:  298 votes 12.47%


Urbandale:

Urbandale's school district asked voters to okay a $59 million dollar bond issue to build two new elementary schools and a new fitness center at the current high school campus.  

YES:  1,663 votes  72.68%     NO:  625 votes 27.32%
