Emergency vehicles hit during pile-up near Ames, Iowa

(AMES, Iowa)  Several emergency vehicles were hit while responding to the huge pile-up on I-35 in Ames Monday. 

The vehicles are among hundreds, damaged in crashes in Iowa Monday during the snow-storm.

The State Patrol is reminding drivers  that Iowa law requires motorists to: Change lanes or slow down when approaching a stationary emergency, tow, or maintenance vehicle that has its flashing lights activated. With winter weather conditions being unpredictable in our state, please remember to drive with caution, be aware of the road conditions, and always be prepared. Your safety is our number one priority.
