The Iowa DOT has released video from a car crash near Ames that involved 50-70 cars and killed one person.
My son was planning to drive from Ames to Des Moines on Monday. I texted him to stay home and I am glad that I did.
It looks like lack of visibility played a big role - remember how the snow was heavy AND blowing. It appears that cars approaching the accident don't see it until it is too late...hit their brakes...and lose control.
