Ames, Iowa Police release name of man hit by train

(AMES, Iowa)   A Mason City man is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries at a Des Moines hospital, after being struck by a train over the weekend.

Ames Police officers were called to the South Duff Avenue railroad crossing at 8 p.m. Saturday night, after a report of a man hit by a train.   Officers arrived and found 54-yeara old Joe Anthony Zavala on the south side of the trailroad tracks.  

Zavala was transported to the Ames Airport by Mary Greeley Medical Center and transferred to Life Flight, and flown to a Des Moines Hospital.
