Iowa football wave tradition continues, in the snow

(IOWA CITY, Iowa)  Even though it's "off-season" for the Iowa Hawkeyes, patients at the Stead Family Children's Hospital overlooking Kinnick Stadium are getting a snowy, friendly message on the football field, reminiscent of the new "wave" tradition during Hawkeye football games, in which fans pause during the game, turn and face the hospital and wave at the young patients.

Pediatric nurse Marcia Knepp, who works on a floor that overlooks the stadium thought it would be nice if someone could write a message to the kid patients in the snow.   She shared the idea with the Child Life manager, who's son is the Kinnick field manager.   He gathered his crew and UI golf course groundskeepers, got a survey company help design it, and the project came together.
