The dietary importance of Pears

To mark February as American Heart Month and March as National Nutrition Month, Pear Bureau Northwest is reminding consumers the importance of a healthy diet. And, that diet includes fresh pears.  Kathy Stephenson with Pear Bureau Northwest says pears are much more than a sweet treat:

Stephenson says they’ve also taken to social media to remind, especially young consumers, the importance of eating fruit throughout the day.  She says the hashtag #WhatsInYourFruitBowl campaign is an effort by the entire industry"

Stephenson says it’s also important to stress the importance of purchasing fresh pears because, as she put it, they are typically an impulse purchase, unlike apples, oranges, and bananas.
