You never hear all that much about a big drug problem in Singapore. Could it be because the country gives the death penalty to drug dealers?
President Donald Trump is a big fan of Singapore’s use of the death penalty for drug trafficking offenses and often tells confidants that drug dealers should be punished with the death penalty.
While Trump reportedly talks with his friends about the way Singapore deals with drug dealers, he acknowledges that such a law would be unlikely to pass in the United States.
Trump aide Kellyanne Conway makes it clear that Trump isn't talking about your buddy passing you some marijuana. He wants the deadly drug trade to be minimized though.
Is Trump right, would a definitive punishment such as the death penalty end drug dealing?
I think it's harsh for this crime. I am in favor of the death penalty but for especially heinous crimes involving torture and murder.
