Police say robber pointed handgun in Des Moines Hardees holdup

DES MOINES, Iowa - Witnesses say a man held workers at a Des Moines restaurant at gunpoint Wednesday night while he ordered the manager to empty the safe.

Police were called by a silent alarm just after 9:00 last night to the Hardees in the 36-hundred block of Merle Hay Road.   A police K9 helped officers search for the suspect, with no success.

Witnesses say the white, six-foot-two man used a silver handgun and walked out with cash, running off on foot.

Des Moines Police are studying security video.
