President Trump was in a joking mood this weekend. But the leftist, coastal media demands that you believe he was serious.
In a closed door meeting this weekend, CNN breathlessly reports that President Trump considered being President for life:
In the closed-door remarks, a recording of which was obtained by CNN, Trump also praised China's President Xi Jinping for recently consolidating power and extending his potential tenure, musing he wouldn't mind making such a maneuver himself."
He's now president for life. President for life. No, he's great," Trump said. "And look, he was able to do that. I think it's great. Maybe we'll have to give that a shot some day."
I'd believe that most Americans would take that line as a joke. In fact, the President this weekend spoke at a swanky, Washington-insider event called the Gridiron Dinner, but even some media tried to inspire outrage with some of his jokes - for example, the joke about his wife leaving him.
My social media feed is full of leftists telling me that I need to fear Trump's comments. Even the media has had serious commentators on air this weekend to discuss the horror inspired by his remarks. (As a side note, do you know what protects Americans from such a move? The Second Amendment. But I digress).
The coastal media spends a lot of time blaming Russia for the utter lack of trust by most Americans in the media. But when the President makes a joking comment (and we're all now familiar enough with his speaking style to recognize it) but the media decides that it should be taken seriously, THAT causes a credibility problem.
Ironically, one of the most viral videos this weekend features liberal Bill Maher attacking liberal media outlets for fake news - which he defines as reporting outrage over trivial matters when few Americans are outraged or even paying attention. I will link the video here rather than embed it because it contains R-rated language that some listeners won't like. But he's on point.
