Florida's Move To Daylight Saving Time Is Illegal

It's time to "spring forward" this Sunday in Iowa.  I hate it.

As a legislator, I sponsored a resolution urging Congress to end Daylight Saving Time.  Some states are going farther -  they want to opt out.  However, what one state is doing is illegal.

The Florida legislature passed a bill to keep the state on Daylight Saving Time permanently.  All it needs is the governor's signature, but there's a problem - it might be illegal under federal law.

Current law allows U.S. states to remain on Standard Time, but not Daylight Saving Time.  That means Congress would have to amend federal law in order for Florida to get its year-round 9pm sunsets.

If you had to pick one, would you stay on Daylight Saving Time or Standard Time?

I'd stay on Daylight Saving Time, but would NOT complain about Standard Time as long as the TIME CHANGE is eliminated.
