Different strain of Avain Flu found in Missouri

A notification from the World Organization for Animal Health reporting that veterinary officials have found a presumptive low pathogenic H7N1 avian influenze outbreak at a commercial turkey farm in Missouri.  The virus was discovered during routine pre-slaughter tests on Feb 26th while no signs of the illness or an increase in animal deaths were reported at the farm.  The facility will be depopulated through controlled marketing according to state response plans, with further tests planned.  

This comes after China's agriculture ministry reported an H5N6 outbreak in Guangxi province and a low pathogenic H7N9 outbreak in Shaanxi province earlier this year.  More on today's Big Show with Iowa Secretary of Ag Mike Naig, listen here:
