Farmers, biofuels producers and Iowa families rallied today in Iowa to send a message to President Trump: Stand strong on your pledge to support the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), and reject proposals to bail out oil refiners at the expense of Iowa farmers.
One of today's hosts was Bill Howell, POET Biorefining – Coon Rapids General Manager, who explains to Bob Quinn what's all going on.
Biofuels supporters gathered at the Bill and Tim Couser farm in Nevada, Iowa for “Refueling America” to hear about efforts by oil-state senators on Capitol Hill that are threatening the future homegrown biofuels and farms here in Iowa. Sen. Ted Cruz has led a campaign to roll back the RFS and remove responsibility by oil refiners to comply with the law, jeopardizing thousands of jobs and family farms across the Midwest. The proposal – which would virtually eliminate all incentives for refiners to blend homegrown biofuels – has been the subject of recent meetings between administration officials, senators and industry leaders. Bob Quinn has more here with host Bill Couser:
Those in attendance were urged to sign a letter to President Trump, which along with video footage of today's events will be delieverd to the While House by Sen. Grassley's office:
Most in attendance agreed that the postponement of a White House Meeting scheduled for Monday on this subject was a positive for the biofuels industry, and we'll have much more on this topic on Monday's Big Show, which you can hear right here:
See you then!
