(ANKENY, Iowa) The City of Ankeny's hosting it's "Play it Forward" program this spring. They're asking for gently used sporting equipment, which will be donated to less fortunate families or community groups.
Whitney Garcia with the Ankeny Park and Recreation Department tells WHO Radio News in past years, residents have donated all sorts of equipment including bats, balls, gloves, golf clubs, tennis rackets, soccer balls, and cleats through this program.
Equipment will be accepted March 19th through March 30th at three locations:
Ankeny Parks and Recreation Office, 220 W. First Street
Ankeny Community Engagement Office/Ankeny School District, 306 SW School Street
Ankeny First United Methodist Church, 206 SW Walnut Street
The equipment will be given away March 31st at Ankeny's Lakeside Center 9-Noon.
