And then there are none.
CBS Sports reports there are no perfect brackets left on its website after No. 16 seed UMBC upset No. 1 seed Virginia. It's the first time in tournament history that a 16-seed defeated a top seed. That's a stretch of 136 games. And not just A top seed. THE top seed in the entire tournament.
I told you on the radio this week that 92.8% of brackets were busted when Buffalo upset Arizona. CBS Sports NOW reports:
I accepted Bonnie's challenge to fill out a bracket using a goofy rule. I decided to advance teams with the letter "i" in the school name. Suffice to say, I am using my bracket as a welcome mat. If only I had picked "u."
Meanwhile, Joe Sherburne had one goal in mind in winning this game:
Because you are going to be afraid to ask today, UMBC stands for University of Maryland Baltimore County (yes, I had to look it up. BTW, check out the Twitter feed of UMBC Athletics. Fans were trying to trash-talk them during and after the game and they were having NONE OF IT.
Unfortnately, a lot of folks will be rooting against UMBC in the next game because it is all about total points now in the office pool.
