Gov. Reynolds gets one of her priorities passed

A unanimous vote in the Iowa Senate Monday drew high praise from Governor Kim Reynolds.

The Senate passed and sent to the governor her "Iowa Future Ready Jobs" program.  The bill lays out the framework for using grants and other funds to help direct Iowa students toward education to fill the many skilled jobs that are available.

The bill has no money appropriated.  Those decisions are still being made and are expected to be the subject of extensive, contentious debate in the final days of this year's legislature.
