Two correctional officers were assaulted by two inmates at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility, Wednesday evening.
The Department of Corrections says it began when an inmate began to attack an officer. When another officer attempted to pull this inmate away, all three of them fell to the ground.
While the officers were attempting to restrain the aggressive inmate, another inmate approached and began kicking the officers that were on the ground.
Additional correctional officers were called and quickly restrained the attackers.
The two staff members that were attacked had scratches and bruising, but were released from the hospital Wednesday night.
Additional charges are expected against the inmates involved.
