(PERRY, Iowa) Perry Police say two credit card skimming devices were spotted in Perry within the last week, placed internally within the pumps.
The first discovery was on March 23rd at the Kum and Go located at 1219 1st Ave . Police say they do not know when the device was placed inside the pump.
The second device was discovered this (Friday) morning March 29th at the other Kum and Go location at 1115 141st St(Hwy 141 and P58).
It is believed that the device could have been there since March 23rd. Officers would like to speak with the driver of a white 2017 Ford Explorer, New York plate number HRJ 6196 in connection with the investigation. Police remind customers to check to make sure the security seal on a gas pump is in place.
Police say if it looks like it has been cut or tampered with or the locking mechanism is broken or doesn’t appear right notify the store so they can check it out. If one is located do not touch and notify law enforcement so they can remove it to collect possible evidence and seize the reader.
Police are also advising people who might have used the gas pumps to watch for fraudulent charges on their credit/debit card statements.
