Graduation Photo By A Gun-Toting Trump Supporter Goes Viral

A Tennessee college student's gun-toting, Trump-supporting graduation photo is sparking controversy.

22-year-old Brenna Spencer, a senior at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, posted a photo wearing a "Women For Trump" t-shirt and lifting it up to reveal a handgun tucked into her waistband.  Spencer captioned the pic with "I don't take normal college graduation photos..."

The photo has been retweeted more than 8,000 times.  Predictably, the reaction has been split between supporters and critics.

Spencer says she owns several firearms and carries them "everywhere that I'm allowed", which does not include her college campus.  She told ABC she expected the photo to get "a little attention", but was surprised by "the amount of hate I got"

Not all the criticisms came from the anti-gun crowd.  Some asked why the gun wasn't in a proper holster.  Others say she was brandishing a gun to "look cool". Spencer is set to graduate in May with a major in communications and minor in political science.

My take:  she's claiming that she is surprised by the attention but I think she KNEW this photo would get attention.

That aside, I keep wondering on-air about this #bluewave about which I am hearing.  Democrats feel very good about this fall's election.  Yes, Democrats are FIRED UP to vote this fall.  But how intense is the backlash to their positions?  Will that stem the gains that liberals expect in November?
