WHY Would Yeti Coolers Cut Ties With The NRA?

OK, THIS is shocking.  After all, COUNTRY SONGS* refer to YETI coolers.

Yet, popular cooler making company YETI is the latest to announce it will be cutting ties with the National Rifle Association.

As you might imagine, many sportsmen are utterly perplexed by the decision, especially when YETI has actively promoted activities involving guns such as duck hunting in a series known as "Dr. Duck."

YETI joins several other companies who have boycotted the NRA after massive anti-gun protests swept the nation.

TWITCHY followed some of the perplexed and angry tweets here.

According to Fox News, YETI is now trying to "clarify" the action.

“When we notified the NRA Foundation and the other organizations about this change, Yeti explained that we were offering them an alternative customization program broadly available to consumers and organizations, including the NRA Foundation,” the statement read. “These facts directly contradict the inaccurate statement the (NRA) distributed on April 20.”

"Broadly" available means, in my view, "we don't want to name specific groups to avoid controversy."  Also "available" doesn't mean that YETI will continue to support the NRA Foundation.  A simple clear statement would have cleared up all the "confusion."  An UNCLEAR statement, such as the one above, doesn't end the controversy.

I thought this might be a case of a company operating in a "liberal bubble" town and it is - sorta.  YETI is based in Austin, Texas, which is certainly a liberal town BUT located IN TEXAS.

*Here's the previously mentioned country song.
