Murder fugitive who gambled in Iowa blew half-million says son

Mug shot Lois Riess

BLOOMING PRAIRIE, Minnesota - The Minnesota woman accused of murdering her husband, and stopping to gamble in Iowa on her way to murder a woman in Florida was trying to escape a gambling losing streak, according to her son.

Braden Riess tells Inside Edition that his mother blew a half-million dollar inheritance and then ran up $100-thousand dollars in gambling debt before having a melt down.

Police say Lois Riess killed her husband and forged $11-thousand in checks before fleeing through Iowa, and stopping to gamble at Diamond Joe's casino along I-35.

Lois Reese is accused of also murdering a woman in Florida who looked similar, so she could steal the woman's identity.
