Large fight at Anamosa, Iowa penitentiary ends quickly

ANAMOSA, Iowa-   The Anamosa State Penitentiary is on restricted movement after a fight involving 22 inmates.

Corrections officials say several inmates got into a fight before 8 o'clock this morning, it escalated and eventually 22-inmates were involved.

Officials say staffers responded and took control of the situation, very quickly.  The entire incident lasted a little over a minute.    No staff were injured and inmates that were involved reported no serious injuries.


The visiting room will remain closed while the institution remains on restricted movement.
