Six southern Iowa counties are under a boil-order. The Southern Iowa Rural Water Association (SIRWA) and Creston Water Works issued the advisory, because of filtration issues at Creston Water Treatment Plant, which could raise the risk for bacteria, and cause nausea, diarrhea, cramps, and headaches.
Residents should boil water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth or preparing food.
This impacts customers in Adams, Clarke, Decatur, Ringgold, Taylor, and Union Counties, and is in effect until further notice.
