Potential storms raising Iowa's flash-flood risk

JOHNSTON, Iowa-  Excessive rainfall in northern and northeastern Iowa has led to flooding issues. Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Des Moines say river and flash flooding are possible this weekend, with continued heavy rainfall possible this weekend.  Flooding remains a threat in particular in the Shell Rock and Cedar Rivers over the next few days.

Storms this (Saturday) morning in northeast Iowa dumped heavy rains in Linn, Butler, and Clinton Counties, prompting flash flood warnings, which have since expired.

One report in Clinton County indicated a nearly six inch rainfall.  There was a report of two inches of rain in a 20-minute period in Linn County.

A large part of Iowa has a slight risk for sever thunderstorms in eastern and northern Iowa this weekend.
