They held the ceremonial kick-off dinner for the Great Jones County Fair in Eastern Iowa last night and one of the things they traditionally do is induct a deserving person into the "Fair Hall of Fame". Last night's honoree is a guy who has spent countless hours volunteering his time to help 4-H and FFA members enter and exhibit their projects at not only the Jones County level but also at the State Fair. Congratulations to Lowell Tiedt:
Fair General Manager John Harms, who is also serving this year as the President of the Iowa State Fair Board, making the presentation:
It was held in the beautiful new Jones County Equestrian Center on the fairgrounds in Monticello:
The Jones County Cattlemen grilled up some juicy burgers topped with cheese from the Jones County Dairy producers and crispy bacon from the Jones County Pork Producers:
Topping off the meal - locally produced ice cream:
Lowell has also volunteered time serving on the Anamosa School Board and as a high school wrestling referee. There are a lot of people who have been able to make great memories due to Lowell's generosity so Congratulations on the much-deserved recognition.
