Iowans made 5-percent more money this year

Iowans made more money than most of the people in their surrounding states.

The Bureau of Economic Analysis of the US Department of Commerce says Iowa had a five percent increase in personal income in the first quarter of 2018.  All of Iowa's surrounding states had increases between 4% to 4.9%, except Missour, which has an increase of 5.5%.

It also showed that Iowa was ranked 15th among the 50 states for personal income growth.

Washington state had the highest percentage of personal income growth, at 7.4%, while Idaho was the lowest at 2%.

Every state and the District of Columbia had increases over last year.
