It's been known that Toys "R" Us was going to close its doors for the last couple of months, and if you took their bankruptcy announcement in October of last year seriously, you've probably been getting ready for this day for the better part of a year.
It still doesn't make it any easier for those of us who have spent some quality childhood memories over the last 70 years walking around the toy palace or watching the commercials on TV.
To put salt in the open wound, a picture of Geoffrey the Giraffe, mascot for the toy store, waving goodbye with a little suitcase has gone viral, kicking all of us lifelong Toys "R" Us kids right in the gut.
So it goes. Life happens and in an age of online shopping, things like this will happen. It still doesn't make it feel any better.
