Goldfish Recalled Due To Salmonella

Did YOU have the same reaction as I did when you saw the headline to this story?  I thought, "why are people swallowing goldfish again?  Is this a revival of a big trend of the 1950s."

Oh....those goldfish.  I am familiar with stories involving salmonella involving meat such as chicken, so I naturally assumed this was about THOSE goldfish.  These goldfish are the crackers that smile at you...perhaps because they have a sinister secret.

I suppose thosehealth conscious people that are always telling us that snacking can kill might have a point given the recent salmonella recalls.

The most recent snack food that could potentially have the presence of the bacteria: Pepperidge Farm Goldfish crackers.

The company has issued a voluntary recall of four varieties of the popular snack in the United States, out of what they say is an abundance of caution.

Whey powder might be the culprit, as the manufacturer of the seasoning has been the subject of a recall.

Consumers who have purchased Flavor Blasted Xtra Cheddar Flavor, Blasted Sour Cream & Onion, Goldfish Baked with Whole Grain Xtra Cheddar, and Goldfish Mix Xtra Cheddar + Pretzel should return the product to the store for a full refund.

And await the "all clear" sign so we can go back and buy them again!
