DES MOINES, Iowa- Organizers of a planned skatepark along the Des Moines River, downtown Des Moines, say they're getting closer to their $3.5 (M) million fundraising goal, thanks to a $400,000 Prairie Meadows Grant. They have raised $3.2 million so far.
Lauridsen Skatepark Executive Director Brad Anderson tells WHO Radio News word is getting out about what's expected to be one of the largest skateparks in the United States.
He says recently they got a call about a potential national tournament asking if the park will be ready by next year.
Crews plan to break ground on the 65,000 square foot facility this fall. It's expected to be completed sometime next summer.
