A bicyclist is dead after an early Saturday crash with an SUV.
Des Moines Police say it happened just before 1am at the intersection of Woodland Avenue and Martin Luther King Parkway.
They report, 56 year old Darrel Ford was crossing the intersection on a red light when he was struck by the vehicle.
Ford was taken to Iowa Methodist Medical Center where he died.
The SUV, described by witnesses as red and full-size, left the scene driving south on Martin Luther King Parkway.
It should have front end, driver’s side damage and windshield damage. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Des Moines Police Department.
