Warren County's getting a new courthouse and jail

Nearly 70 percent of voters approved a 20 year, 30 million dollar bond referendum to build a new jail in Warren County.

The new facility will have nearly 80,000 square feet of space, or two and a half times the current amount.

State officials closed the jail portion of the building in February due to code violations at the building.

The bond issue raises property taxes about 100 dollars a year for the average Warren County homeowner.

Two years ago, voters rejected a plan to build the new courthouse and law enforcement center.  The new plan is almost two and a half times the current building's size.
