DES MOINES, Iowa- Des Moines Police are investigating a shooting early this morning in the 21-hundred block of York Street, east of Birdland Park, in the Union Park neighborhood.
Police were called 4:30 a.m. about a woman shot in the chest. The arrived and learned the woman had been taken by private vehicle to Mercy Medical Center.
Police have released the woman's name, 49-year-old Stacy Rene Walker. She's hospitalized in critical, but stable condition.
Sgt. Paul Parizek says investigators are interviewing witnesses and looking at video from the area.
No word yet about a possible suspect.
