(CLIVE)--Clive Police say a two year old boy is at Blank Childrens Hospital after shooting himself with his father's gun.
It happened at the Sterling Inn in Clive Sunday around 9:30am Sunday. Police say they found the two year old had a gunshot wound to the chest and neck.
Their preliminary investigation shows the child's father left a loaded, unsecured .45 caliber handgun in a piece of luggage. The child picked up the weapon and pulled the trigger.
The father has a valid permit to carry a handgun.
No names have been released. Charges have not been announced.
