A man was shot to death, Thursday night in Ottumwa and a local man is in jail, charge with his murder.
In a press release, Ottumwa Police say they were called to North Ward Street on a report of shots fired and found the victim, mortally wounded.
He was rushed to the hospital but died of his injury.
Just after midnight, early Friday morning, they arrested 18 year old Jacob Heckethorn of Ottumwa and charged him with 1st degree murder.
The victim's name has not been released at this time. Heckethorn is being held in the Wapello County jail.
