United Way of East Central Iowa (UWECI) has put together a committee and together with the North Linn FFA will host the first Tabling Hunger event on September 10, 2018 at North Linn School from 6 to 8 p.m.. This event is being held to bring awareness to the services and needs within the five counties UWECI serves, Linn, Jones, Cedar, Benton, and Iowa.
Tabling Hunger is just one component of UWECI’s Cultivating Communities which is a newly developed rural outreach program that helps identify and address needs of those living in rural communities. Approximately one in eight, nearly 35,120 people, are food insecure. 74% of these food insecure individuals reside in Linn County. North Linn FFA and United Way are committed to working with local organizations to provide services in the North Linn school district.
