ANKENY, Iowa- Ankeny Police are releasing more details about an officer involved, fatal shooting. Officers were called to Hy-Vee Gas at 1710 SW Oralabor Road Saturday around 4:30, on a report of a robbery.
Ankeny Police say an officer saw a suspect near the Kum N Go convenience store at 1910 SW White Birch, and that the suspect pointed a weapon at the officer, who then fired his gun, striking and killing the suspect.
Police say the officer who discharged his firearm is Officer Todd Webb, a 12 year veteran of the Ankeny Police Department.
The suspect who was struck and killed has been identified as 31-year-old Christopher Leonard of Springfield, Missouri.
Officer Webb is on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of an investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation
