Hurricane Florence Has Made Wilmington, NC Into An Island

Floodwaters from Florence are cutting off the city of Wilmington from the rest of North Carolina. Torrential rain has flooded roadways, making it virtually impossible to leave or go into the city.

Power has been out for most of the city the entire weekend and the rain continues to fall, swelling rivers past their banks.

Florence is now a tropical depression, but it's still dumping rain on the Carolinas and Mid-Atlantic states.

At least 16 people have lost their lives in North and South Carolina since Florence made landfall last week.
