URBANDALE, Iowa- The 100th Street I-35/80 Interchange in Urbandale is officially open. Urbandale Mayor Bob Andeweg says the opening of the interchange marks the opening of new and greater access to the area.
“This interchange provides access for the Metro’s workforce to efficiently get to jobs across the region, businesses to get products and services to market, and investment opportunities in the area,” said Mayor Andeweg during a ribbon cutting this (Monday) afternoon.
Construction has been completed on the western half of the interchange; traffic can now utilize the westbound on-ramp and eastbound off-ramp.
The 100th Street Interchange project is the first of three major I-35/80 access projects in Urbandale’s Urban Loop. Work is already underway on a new interchange at Meredith Drive and a flyover ramp for Iowa Highway 141. These projects are scheduled to open in 2020.
The eastern half of the interchange may open in three to four weeks.
