Iowa welcomes back nearly 400 National Guard soldiers

CAMP DODGE, JOHNSTON, Iowa-  Nearly 400  Iowa National Guard soldiers home after a year-long deployment overseas.  

 Soldiers in the 248th Aviation Support Battalion were part of a larger unit serving in the Middle East.

Homecoming ceremonies were today (Friday) in Boone, Davenport,  Muscatine, and Waterloo.

The largest group, 180 soldiers, are from Boone.  Davenport and Muscatine has welcomed home about 100 soldiers.  Waterloo also welcomed home 100 soldiers.   

The return of this group, cuts the number of Iowa soldiers deployed by more than half, there are still about 200 soldiers who are still deployed.
