DES MOINES, Iowa- A West Des Moines man found with a loaded gun on a party-bus last year, who ran from police, has been convicted in Federal Court of Felon of Possession of a firearm.
Twenty-eight-year-old Ryan Haynes was charged in July 29, 2017. Prosecutors say Haynes was on a party bus, which was stopped for a traffic violation in downtown Des Moines.
Officers smelled marijuana coming from the bus, so they removed passengers. Police say Haynes took marijuana from his pocket and handed it to one of the officers. A pat-down turned up a loaded Glock .40 caliber handgun. Haynes ran before officers could get the gun. He was caught a short distance away, near 16th Street and Grand Avenue. Police found the gun in a flower-bed outside a townhouse.
The sentencing date has not been set yet.
Haynes had previously been convicted of robbery charges.
