DES MOINES, Iowa - The Burger King at 25th and East Euclid in Des Moines is closed Monday after heavy fire damage overnight.

Firefighters got a call from the store manager just after 4:30 Monday morning.  He came in early to open the restaurant and found heavy smoke in the lobby.

Des Moines police who arrived a few minutes later, just ahead of fire fighters reported flames shooting from the roof.

Lieutenant Rick Thomas with the Des Moines Fire Department tells WHO Channel 13 that the flames were knocked down in about an hour and crews stayed to put out any hot spots.

No one was hurt.
