JASPER COUNTY, Iowa -- Iowa State Patrol dash cam video shows a trooper running out of the way seconds before a semi smashes into his patrol car on the side of the highway.
The trooper was directing traffic on Highway 163, northwest of Monroe after a fatal rear-end crash on October 29th in Jasper County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the flashing lights on the trooper’s car were on, and the trooper was wearing a reflective vest, but they believe the driver of the semi was not paying attention.
The trooper says he first noticed something was wrong when he heard the semi wheels on the rumble strips off the side of the road.
The semi hit the patrol car, but the trooper ran out of the way and was not hurt.
The semi driver was ticketed.
