Des Moines voters may decide on penny tax increase

WHO Radio

DES MOINES, Iowa  -  Des Moines voters may be asked to approve a one-percent sales tax.

City Council will hold a special meeting on January 2nd to request a special election.

If approved, the tax would get an up or down vote from citizens on March 5th.

The money would be used for property tax relief, street and infrastructure improvements and flood prevention.

A similar tax proposal failed earlier this year.
