Threat Prompts Police Presence at Johnston School

WHO-TV

JOHNSTON, Iowa - Johnston police are at Summit Middle School in Johnston today after a social media threat.

In a letter to parents, principal Christopher Billings says Police searched the home of the person, and say the person who posted the threat has no access to weapons and will not be at school.

School officials say they’re confident Summit is safe for students and that police handled the matter appropriately.

However, the school is excusing student absences Wednesday if parents do not feel comfortable sending their child to classes.
