WINNESHIEK COUNTY, Iowa — A judge is expected to rule sooner than later in the matter of uncounted ballots in a disputed election in Winneshiek County.

Democrat Kayla Koether lost to Republican Michael Bergan by nine votes, but she thinks the 29 uncounted ballots could change the outcome.

The ballots for House District 55 were received by the election deadline but were set aside because they didn’t contain a postmark.

Koether is suing to get the 29 ballots counted.

The Iowa Secretary of State has already certified Bergan as the winner.
