Thieves swipe small Iowa town's booster club can collection

DAYTON, Iowa-  Police in a northern Iowa town are looking for thieves, who stole items from  a booster club's can collection bin, at a car wash this week.

Police Chief Nicholas Dunbar tells our news partner Channel 13 WHO-TV the theft happened shortly before 4 a.m. on December 26th, at the Dayton Car Wash.

Chief Dunbar says surveillance shows two suspects and a vehicle, which appears to be a Dodge Journey, possibly 2015 model year.

"They've taken money from children, and that's upset a lot of people in the community," said Dunbar.

The Little Jaguar's Booster club collects can all year to raise money for a variety of school expenses.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Dayton, Iowa Police Department at  (515) 573-2323.
