ISU falls to Washington State in 2018 Alamo Bowl

WHO Radio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Iowa State freshman quarterback Brock Purdy helped the Cyclones to a 7-1 finish prior to the 2018 Valero Alamo Bowl, but the magic ended in San Antonio following a 28-26 loss to the Washington State Cougars.

The Cyclones trailed 21-10 at halftime, but then outscored the vaunted Cougars offense 10-0 in the 3rd quarter in trimming the Washington State lead to just a point.

A late 4th-quarter 2-point conversion attempt by the Cyclones would have tied the game with just four minutes remaining, but the attempt failed.

Purdy had 315 yards passing, many of those to wide receiver Hakeem Butler. The 6'6'' and 225 pound junior had 192 yards receiving.

Two ISU players were ejected for targeting Washington State quarterback Gardner Minshew II.
