AMES, Iowa- Iowans who've already blown their New Year's resolution to lose weight, have a second chance coming up with the annual "10-week Wellness Challenge."
Live Healthy Iowa's Nicole Kennedy tells WHO Radio News, up to 30-thousand people from across the state typically take part in this challenge each year.
Kennedy says people gather in teams of 2-to-10, and track their weight loss and/or physical activity over the 10-weeks. She says it's an opportunity to be in a supportive, and motivating environment, that's fun and will hopefully lead to a healthier lifestyle.
She says the idea is not to lose a lot of weight in 10-weeks, but to establish healthier habits.The challenge begins Monday, January 14th. Cost is $22 per person, which includes a t-shirt and motivational materials, and discounts for a Live Healthy Iowa 5K events.
