Wednesday-even before he was sworn in to the Iowa Senate seat he won in November-State Sen. Randy Feenstra announced he was going to compete against Rep. Steve King in a Republican primary in 2020.
King narrowly won his re-election in the 2018 November election, to a Democratic challenger.
Now, Governor Kim Reynolds tells WHO-TV that she's staying out of that race. Reynolds says she'll stay out of the primary endorsement race, even though King was an honorary co-chair of her election campaign in 2018.
King's son Jeff sent a statement indicating that on December 28th, Feenstra told him, "I love your dad and I would never run against him."
